Cognition+, a cloud-based core system provider for Canadian property and casualty (P&C) insurers, has been recognized in Insurance Business's Global 5-Star Technology and Software Providers 2026 report. The recognition highlights Cognition+'s three decades of experience supporting Canadian Insurers.

About the Global 5-Star Technology and Software Providers 2026

Insurance Business's Global 5-Star Technology and Software Providers 2026 identifies the insurtech and broker software platforms that insurance brokers rated highest for usability, performance, innovation, and real-world value. Twenty-eight insurance technology providers across nine countries and six technology categories earned 5-Star recognition for 2026, spanning categories from policy administration to claims management, cyber technology, and digital risk intelligence.

2026 5-Star Technology and Software Provider Award

Methodology

The recognition is grounded in a 15-week global research program combining qualitative and quantitative research. The process included one-on-one interviews with brokers alongside large-scale surveys distributed across Insurance Business's global network, capturing thousands of data points on usability, performance, innovation, and real-world value. Technology providers also submitted detailed nominations outlining how their solutions advance digital transformation and differentiate in a competitive market. Following this evaluation, 28 insurtech providers were named 5-Star Technology and Software Providers for 2026.

Cognition+'s Recognition

Cognition+ was recognized in the Policy Administration System category. Brodie McLellan, the company's vice president of business development, attributes its standing with carriers to three decades of accumulated Canadian insurance expertise built into the platform, an asset he says amounts to roughly 900 years of combined insurance operations experience. That longevity, McLellan says, is core to how the company positions itself against newer entrants:

“Innovation is important, but so is stability.”

The report also points to Cognition+'s client-focused product governance committee and its collaborative implementation approach, which typically takes eight to 10 months from kickoff to go-live, as key differentiators.
